Stowe, Vermont Horseback Riding Vacation…for the Whole Family
My family is always looking for a chance to go horseback riding while on vacation. While we may have the horseback-riding spirits of cowboys, we have the horseback-riding experience of the city slickers we are. We desire friendly horses, well-trained, on beautiful trails. So when we arrived in Stowe, Vermont in the midst of a two-month summer adventure, and saw horse trails along the award-winning Stowe Recreation Path, we knew we’d found our horseback ride.
Horseback Riding Tour for Guests of Topnotch Resort
The friendly folks at the Nordic Barn Recreational Center offered a one-hour horseback riding tour for guests of the Topnotch Resort & Spa. Our trail guide Mike led four very friendly horses across meadows, over streams, and through forests, while we felt the peace that comes from connection to nature. At our 10-year-old son’s request, he did let us trot a few times, so we all got a little rush of speed, too. The Topnotch Resort & Spa and Edson Hill Manor, two of Stowe’s sublime accommodations, also offer horseback riding lessons and guided trail rides, and pony rides for the littlest cowboys.
Equestrian Options in Stowe, Vermont
Stowe has wonderful equestrian options even for those who don’t want to get into a saddle for a horseback riding vacation. Horse-drawn carriage rides are a wonderful way to see the Vermont countryside, whether in the comfort of summer or the snowflakes and jingle bells of winter. Carriage rides are available through Topnotch Resort & Spa, Edson Hill Manor , as well as Gentle Giants and the Trapp Family Lodge.
Horseback Riding Vacation in Snow-covered Vermont
As summer came to a close, we left Stowe reluctantly, hoping we’d be back soon…maybe for a snow-covered ride next time.
The Topnotch Resort & Spa arranged for our horseback ride with the Nordic Barn Recreation Center. Have you been on a horseback riding vacation in Stowe, Vermont?
